I've just discovered today "Yate datacard channel driver for Huawei UMTS modem" at http://code.google.com/p/yate-datacard/
Is anyone using it?

Hi, Diana!
Dataсard module works for me about 1 year.
Works with 4 usb modem huawei E173, and correspondingly, with 4 different gsm providers in Russia.
I am used only voice function.
Ussd sms still work, but I am do not use.
After updating to build 154, I stopped watching periodic restarts yate.
Author promptly responds to reports with bugs.
In general I am quite happy with this unit.
Best regards,
cc08.

That's so freaking cool :)

Yes, I like it... :)
On the Internet scattered many the crumbs of useful pieces of code to Yate.
Maybe Yate team need to use this, and as coordinator of the project, arrange inspection and integration of code to the project.
It seems that the team has frozen the project (although it may have planned to stage monetization project?).
By the way, if you make on the forum under "wishes", will be seen what is missing in Yate.
Best regards

Hi cc08,
I use 4x Huawei E1550, DUB-H7 (7-Port USB hub) and works great, but sometimes I have problems with the doors, I believe is related to the power.
-
Hi, Doug,
I do not understand what you mean under the "doors" :)
But power should be enough.
Instability I noticed when connect a second modem.
Now I have the same hub with three modems E173.
Frequent failures at the end of the conversation and always with simultaneous operation of modems.
And always in both cases leads to restart the engine.
I think the problem is in the code datacard module.

Hi cc08,
Sorry, but my english is not good. I have not explained properly, the modem loses communication with the USB ports. I have tested a similar module with FreeSWITCH and it is the same.
I think this project has great potential. I'm not a professional programmer, but I would like to contribute to this module. ;)
Regards, Doug
