Yate IVR / over view if auto attendant

I want to setup auto attendant for voice calls.
Please show an over view of how this is handled, the *conf's that are involved.
Please attach an example...

Yate users hangout place / how do I start yate so log files are created?

from /usr/loca/bin/yate  entering   ./yate -vvvv -l /var/log/yate  only give me an empty file in /var/log/yate

what's a command that give a verbose log file??
